FAQ's

  • Why should I sharpen my knives?

      • Sharp knives are more efficient at accomplishing their intended task and are safer to use. Plus, it just feels so nice when it cuts through something with ease!

  • How often should I get my knives sharpened?

      • It depends on usage, but typically used kitchen knives should be sharpened 2-3 times per year. It may also be a good idea to get knives sharpened after a big job such as processing a deer or elk.

  • How do I keep my knives sharp between sharpening?

      • Ideally using a leather strop or piece of denim after every 2-3 uses will keep your edge in good shape. You can also use a kitchen steel or ceramic rod to achieve a similar result, but it will typically dull your edge quicker than a strop.

      • Once you notice that stropping or using a steel rod is no longer keeping a good edge on your knife, it is time to get it sharpened.

      • Don't use your knife against hard surfaces if possible. Use a cutting board made of wood or other softer material. Do not use your knife on hard counter tops.

  • How long will it take to get my knives sharpened?

      • Typically I will have your knives available within 1-3 days. However, as this is a side job for me and I have a busy family life, I do ask for your patience. I will do my best to give a good timeline at drop-off.
