About
Meet the sharpener
My name is Dustin Hoiten and my passion for sharpening started with needing to figure out a way to sharpen my broadheads for deer hunting. My wife and I had also discussed getting several of our kitchen knives sharpened and were surprised at the lack of local options to have them sharpened. I decided to invest in a few tools to sharpen our personal knives and it occurred to me that there may be many more people out there that could benefit from a local sharpener.
I am an air traffic controller by trade after spending almost 10 years active duty in the Air Force. This sharpening business is a side business for me now while I continue to do air traffic control as my full time job.
My Process
I use a series of grinders with high quality abrasives to get the job done quickly while also only taking as much little metal off as necessary. My high quality belts also make it so that heat does not build up in the steel.
I finish each blade with a deburring step of either a scotch-brite or felt wheel or belt. This removes any burr and is where the magic really happens. This steps takes your blade to the next level.
I also have an assortment of other tools, files, and stones to ensure that I am using the right tool for the job! Feel free to ask if you have any additional questions!
